When the brakes are tuned in this puppy is virtually impossible to backlash. I’ve used the 7. Great reel for the price! I’ve had this reel for a few weeks and I cannot say enough about it. It casts a mile, smoothing reeling, and is an all out good reel. I haven’t had a problem with it. Will definitely be buying a few more. I have now had this reel for a couple of months and it is the worst shimano reel i have owned I love shimano but this reel just does not perform as good as all of my other ones.
It doesn’t cast far as any of the other reels from shimano do not recommend i would rather have a casitas than this reel which is one of my favorite reels on the market. I got this and put it on a frog rod, only thing Iv used it for.. The 71 is little and super crisp.. But this citica Dosent take a back seat to either of them, I fish daily and its is used a lot , it’s a beast and I would get another one with out a secound thought.. Any one that complains about this reel is just picky and probly don’t fish much..
I would have payed the same amount for this reel as I did the curado..

These commercial waters are absolutely stuffed with small to medium-size carp that will keep you busy all day, assuming that you are using the right tactics and bait. To be honest, these fish are not difficult to catch and any novice angler wouldn’t find it too difficult to catch a carp. However, if you want to have a really good day catching lots of carp then keep reading and let me explain how I go about fishing for carp in the small commercial waters.

I had a great day of fishing with Ben Koller of the Hook-up Outfitters. His instruction was spot on, the fishing was wonderful and the overall trip was one that everyone should have an opportunity to experience. After meeting the rest of the guides and seeing their entire fleet of matching trucks and boats it would be very hard to imagine any guide service in the country being much better than The Hook-up Outfitters. I travel the world golfing, but fishing is my passion. On a beautiful day in March, they put me on heaps of bass and crappie and knew what flies would work.

The slow-trolling method known as spider rigging has been used for years to catch boatloads of crappie on almost any body of water in any weather and water conditions. Boats toting numerous long crappie poles, from bow to stern, are a common sight on lakes from Texas to North Carolina. You want to troll against the wind and first make a dry run to see what obstacles that could be in the way. Loading eight rods on the front of the boat allows you to comply with tournament rules and have a more stable boat for slow trolling.
With two persons sitting in the front of the boat, the added weight pushes the boat deeper into the water, stabilizing it, particularly on windy days. This prevents waves from constantly bouncing the poles and making the bait bounce up and down.

Some of the best spinnerbaits on the market. Awesome thump and the combination of skirt colors and blade colors is perfect. Hold up to big bass and musky just fine. Have a great feel and vibration in the water too. If you want a top quality spinner bait that produces you might as well support a good homegrown American made business and catch your bass on an angler asset! By far one of the best spinnerbaits in my arsenal. These are very high quality and take a beating and keep on catching.
I usually retire a spinnerbait after fish catches due to a high chance of the wire snapping and these have proved me wrong.

Hooks: “The Jig Is Up”
How to make a Pennel rig This is a nice rig because I’ve found it doesn’t tangle as easily as other rigs do. For this rig you have a large hook on the bottom of the line and a smaller hook above. This is a good rig to use for three main reasons: The extra smaller hook means you have a chance of also catching the smaller fish. Large fish don’t always bite where the hook is and by having the two hooks you increase your chances.

What follows is a list of the more commonly caught fish along with with general methods for fishing for them and the types of hooks used. Fish are listed alphabetically by their Hawaiian names and referenced to common English and Latin names see links to www. Broadly speaking, there are three approaches to shoreline fishing: Dunking involves either a short or long pole with the line attached to the end of the pole or a spinning rod and reel.
Floater fishing involves a spinning rod and reel. The distance from the floater to the hook is less than the water depth.

The End of the Line For the angler starting out in game fishing, it can be a complicated and confusing business. More fish are lost because of terminal tackle failure than any other reason.
The Hook Up Tackle is a fisherman owned and operated company specializing in a wide selection of high quality products and outstanding customer service. It is our goal to get you the best gear at the best prices so you can be successful in all your fishing pursuits!
What you should be doing is fishing a rig with a strung-out shirt-button style shotting pattern and laying it out across the water, holding it on a tight line to the pole tip, so that the float settles gradually as the shots register. Set the rig so that you are fishing the bait an inch off the bottom — just as the bait reaches those last few inches is when you can expect to get your bites. Just lowering the rig down and leaving the bait stationary will see you getting far less action.
Hook choice is very important. The pattern you choose should have a wide gape that makes it easy for you to hook the seed and position it at the back of the bend with plenty of the hook point showing. A size 18 fine-wire, wide-gape hook is perfect for hemp, while a tare can be fished on a size 18 or 16 hook. Use light lines too — a typical hemp rig used by match anglers for roach would incorporate a very light 0.
For hemp fishing in winter, many anglers use a gossamer 0. Of course the key to fishing this light on the pole is balancing your tackle, and light elastics from No2 to No4 are advised. If you are expecting chub on rivers, you need to step up this kind of tackle up considerably. Hitting Your Bites The great thing about fishing hemp is that when you get fish going on it, bites are fantastic.
It pays to leave plenty of the float bristle showing so that you are not tempted to strike at little dabs on the float. Commercial Fisheries A noted tactic in the cooler months is to fish a grain of sweetcorn over a bed of hemp, fed accurately using a pole pot.

Return to all Flies Articles Hooks: Three patterns tied on jig hooks: Whether you purchase flies at your local fly shop or twist up your own creations, this is the standard used by most fly fishermen. In the last seven to eight years, however, there has been a movement among salty brethren on the left coast toward tying saltwater flies on jig hooks — specifically, jig hooks with degree bends.
Now, this movement has grown and spread its way eastward, riding the buzz from a lot of anglers who believe that patterns tied on a degree jig hook are superior. This degree hook is corrosion-resistant and has a longer shank design.
Simply tie it to the bottom of your main rig body and then clip your sinker directly onto it. Before casting clip your baited hook down into it. The bait is held down against the top of the sinker forming a much more aerodynamic package when cast. When your rig hits the water the hook is jarred loose from the clip. This clip can also be used at the top of your rig body to clip your bait up as opposed to down, you just tie the clip on upside down. Although very simple to use the potential downside is that sometimes the hook may not release from the clip.
Click for larger image Impact Shield The impact shield is a little more fiddly but still very easy to use. The baited hook clips down into the hook part of the shield for casting.
